our philosophy
At three realms yoga, we offer you space for yourself; the physical, mental and spiritual space to practice yoga and come home to your Self. We offer a range of classes, courses and workshops based on traditional hatha yoga, Vedanta, Ayurveda, the mindfulness traditions and Western science.
Our teaching philosophy is based on the three principles of practice, knowledge and support: an appropriate practice for your age, stage, lifestyle and needs, founded on an ancient system of knowledge with our support and guidance.
We provide a safe space and the appropriate support for you to enjoy a sense of well-being; either as an experience in its own right or as part of your personal path to physical, mental and spiritual fulfillment.
Three realms yoga is a marriage of an Eastern philosophy with a Western context. We aim to make the practices and teachings of yoga accessible and useful to busy people immersed in the energy and pressures of Sydney living.
our teaching methodology
The way we teach yoga is based on the three principles of practice, knowledge and support:
practice
We offer you a range of hatha yoga, ayurveda and meditation programs as a path to physical, mental and spiritual fulfillment. Our practices are designed to be realistic, to fit within your lifestyle and to be of benefit and a relief from a busy contemporary life. We start with the physical and then move beyond… to a calm and restful mind and a contented stillness.
The use of self-inquiry as a means of understanding our body, mind and Self is one of our defining qualities. Through observing our practice, we begin to develop mindfulness and an inner stillness. Yoga and meditation becomes not only a practice, rather an experience that flows into our every day life. We become calm, open and aware regardless of what is happening in our external environment.
knowledge
Our practice is grounded in the classical Indian philosophies of Yoga, Vedanta and Ayurveda. The word for philosophy in Sanskrit is darshana. It means a view of the way things are or a way of seeing things. It is a view that is open and available for all to benefit.
We use the ancient texts of Yoga, Vedanta and Ayurveda to inquire how their wisdom may be relevant in our modern context. At three realms yoga we put our theory into practice and accept nothing as truth without using it, inquiring into it and living it - and we invite you to do the same.
support
We offer you our support on your yoga journey and we aim to help you in the following ways:
We offer a range of programs to suit students’ varying physical, mental and spiritual needs.
We offer you a community of like-minded people to connect with.
We offer you the transition from physical practices to spiritual inquiries so that you may enjoy the maximum benefits that yoga (in the broader sense) has to offer.
We offer hands-on adjustments and assistance to help you fully benefit from the yoga practice.
We try to maintain a relaxed and open approach to our teaching.
