beginning yogayour first class | specific health issues | hatha yoga
your first class The following recommendations will make your first yoga class more enjoyable: Don’t eat two hours before class and wear comfortable clothing. Arrive 10–15 minutes before class, store your shoes and gear in at the back of the space and turn off your mobile phone. Advise your teacher if you have any injuries, health conditions or if you are pregnant. Not all poses are for everyone. If a posture feels painful or not right, come out of it and let the teacher know. Yoga is not a competitive activity. Don’t worry about what the person next to you is doing. Yoga is a path of self-discovery through inquiry and experience. The process and not the outcome is what is important. Keep it light and keep a sense of humour about yourself and your practice.
