our philosophy
At three realms yoga, we offer you space for yourself; the physical, mental and spiritual space to practice yoga and come home to your Self. We offer a range of classes, courses and workshops based on traditional hatha yoga, Vedanta, Ayurveda, the mindfulness traditions and Western science.
Our teaching philosophy is based on the three principles of practice, knowledge and support: an appropriate practice for your age, stage, lifestyle and needs, founded on an ancient system of knowledge with our support and guidance.
We provide a safe space and the appropriate support for you to enjoy a sense of well-being; either as an experience in its own right or as part of your personal path to physical, mental and spiritual fulfillment.
Three realms yoga is a marriage of an Eastern philosophy with a Western context. We aim to make the practices and teachings of yoga accessible and useful to busy people immersed in the energy and pressures of Sydney living.
our teaching methodology
The way we teach yoga is based on the three principles of practice, knowledge and support:
- Practice – a yoga that will replenish you on a physical, mental and spiritual level
- Knowledge – based on centuries-old sacred texts
- Support – insightful teachers, assistants, private lessons and group workshops
practice
We offer you a range of hatha practices so that you may find an appropriate class and a sense of well-being. It will take you beyond the physical realm of yoga so you may experience a calm and restful mind and a contented stillness.
We offer you a path to physical, mental and spiritual fulfillment, grounded in a time-tested tradition. There are a range of classes, courses and workshops for varying abilities and health needs so that you may develop and deepen your personal practice.
The use of self-inquiry as a means of understanding our body, mind and Self is one of our defining qualities. Through observing our practice, we begin to develop mindfulness and an inner stillness. Yoga becomes not only a practice, rather an experience that flows into our every day life. We become calm, open and aware regardless of what is happening in our external environment.
knowledge
Our practice is grounded in the classical Indian philosophies of Yoga and Vedanta. The word for philosophy in Sanskrit is darshana. It means a view of the way things are or a way of seeing things. It is a view that is open and available for all to benefit.
The great yogic texts include: the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads and the Brahma Sutras.
We use these ancient texts to inquire how their wisdom may be relevant in our modern context. At three realms yoga we put our theory into practice and accept nothing as truth without using it, inquiring into it and living it - and we invite you to do the same.
